At our February, 18, 2010 member meeting, Chuck Sheketoff of the Oregon Center for Public Policy (OCPP) will talk and lead a discussion on framing -- How did we talk differently about Measures 66 & 67 that helped them pass? What do we do next and how do we talk about it? What do we want to see happen and how do talk about them?
Chuck and the OCPP were vital parts of the communications about the importance and impact of Measures 66 & 67 and of rebutting the claims against them.
OCPP, "... does in-depth research and analysis on budget, tax, and economic issues. Our goal is to improve decision making and generate more opportunities for all Oregonians."
I've known Chuck for several years and Chuck has been a leader in bringing these issues to the fore in Oregon, including bringing Jared Bernstein (now Vice President Joe Biden's top economic advisor) here to talk about these issues, working with national organizations like Demos on positioning and framing economic issues, the value of public structures to society, etc.
BTW, Jared Bernstein's book, "All Together Now. Common Sense for a Fair Economy" is excellent, readable and frames the contrast with conservatives well!
